Webmail

Webmail has moved: Click here to open in a secure window.

Tips: The Username is your full email address. For Server, enter mail.domain.com, replacing 'domain.com' with your own.

Important: you must have a mailbox-type email account to use webmail. If your email address is a 'forwarding' address, i.e. it simply forwards mail to another account, you cannot use that address to access webmail.

Notes when using webmail: Email accounts are limited in the amount of server space they are allocated, dependent on the type of account you have. Most id2net accounts allow 50Mb. Mail collected through webmail is not automatically deleted from the server, unlike mail collected by your local PC email client, such as Outlook or Thunderbird.

A large amount of undeleted mail may cause the webmail application to perform very slowly.

If you use only webmail, or some email clients such as those supplied with mobile phones, undeleted emails eventually will fill all the space allocated and your email mailbox will refuse to accept any more mail. You must delete old emails from the server to prevent this happening.

When you collect email with your normal email client, the default setting is to delete mail from the server after download. Therefore, mail that has already been downloaded and deleted by your normal email client will not be available later through webmail, as webmail checks the mail server directly.

If you use webmail to check from a remote location, but your PC at home or the office is turned on and also collecting and deleting mail from the server after download while you are away, you may miss important emails when checking later through webmail. To prevent this scenario, it is useful to change your normal email client settings to delete mail only after a certain length of time, rather than immediately on download. We suggest 14 days, but your personal circumstances will determine the optimum time. Too long, and your mailbox can fill up, especially if you often receive large attachments. Too short, and you might miss mail through webmail if you don't check often enough.

If you require a larger quota for a particular mailbox, please let us know.
